Mikkele's 8th Birthday Party

The Party

So I think this picture of Mikkele pretty much sums up how much fun we had a Mikkele's 8th birthday party. Mikkele invited her 3 closest friends. I went to DI and bought some fancy dresses. Made a lot of alterations. I know I'm quite the domestic goddess. My grandma would be so proud, I even did a lot of hand stitching to make it look as good as I could. Mikkele's dress that she's wearing here was once a spaghetti strap dress. Just don't look too close at the quality of my sewing skills. The girls got all dressed up, then we went to a salon in Spanish Fork called the Primrose Retreat. There the girls got to get their hair, make up, and finger nails done. They also had a huge assortment of dress-up clothes, jewelry, boa's, etc. To top it all off they had a catwalk. So the girls were able to try on different outfits then strut their stuff on the catwalk. At the end they had a tea party with huge cupcakes and cherry 7-up and then we opened presents. The girls all had so much fun. I would recommend the salon to anyone with a little girl, or even for yourself. So cute! And not to brag about my child or anything...but is she not the cutest girl alive??? I'm really gonna be in trouble in another 8 years.

This is a short video of Mikkele on the catwalk. Sorry it's sideways. I keep forgetting
not to do my video's with my camera on the side. One day I'll remember to shoot the video in the right direction or figure out how to change the orientation. But until then enjoy and I hope you don't get a kink in your neck.

The Invitations

So can I brag for just a minute about these invitations. I think they turned out pretty stinkin' cute. Just in case you can't tell from the pictures, they are pink with brown polka dots. The handle is brown with white polka dots, and the button in pink and brown striped. Then you open up the purse and the writing part of the invitations is in the inside. They look like a real purse from a distance. I'm quite proud of these invitations. Can you tell???

Breaking News: The Boyfriends Are History

So Mikkele informed me last night that she no longer has a/any boyfriend(s). This is news to me. I casually brought up one of the boys that she says has been her "boyfriend" since the first day of First Grade and she looked at me with the look of death and says, "He's not my boyfriend Mother." After recovering from my shock I asked her about another boy that she has also called her "boyfriend" since the beginning of Second Grade, and she also said no. So I asked her what prompted the no boyfriend thing all of a sudden and she said, "Well Rietta (her best friend) told me I shouldn't have a boyfriend so I decided I'm not going to have one anymore." I don't know how long this has been going on, because she couldn't tell me how long ago she decided to not have a boyfriend, but it can't be for more than a week. And there you have it. We'll see how long it lasts.
