Our new addition

Most of you probably heard that we had to put our cat Oreo down on my birthday (see eulogy on Alisha's blog.) Since that time, Mikkele has been asking me at least once on a daily basis when we were going to get a new cat. So yesterday Jeremy decided it was time. He told us to meet him at a certain address, we just didn't know where we were going. When we pulled up we noticed it was the animal shelter. Mikkele's face was priceless. She was so excited. They had a TON of cats and kittens. It was really sad to walk past all the cages and all of them would try to get your attention somehow. It's like they were saying, "pick me, pick me." It kinda breaks your heart. But we're not turning into the cat house and I'm not gonna be the crazy cat lady, so only one cat for us. We wanted a cat that was a little older; already little box trained and out of the kitten stage. Mikkele decided on this cute gray and white tabby. He is 2 years old, already neutered, and very playful and loving. Mikkele named him Sparky. She said it fur looked like sparklers and fireworks. That name made me think of my cousins cat Firecracker that they had when we were all little. Jeremy and I already like him more than Oreo because he likes to be around people and cuddle up with you, Oreo never wanted to do that. So there you have it, we're pet owners again.

***If anyone is in the market for a new cat or dog we would definitely recommend your local animal shelter. We feel like we got a really good deal, and there are so many good cats and dogs that need a home.

You Know You're Getting Old When.......

So you know when you are in a group of people and you start exchanging your most embarrassing moments? Well I never really had a really good most embarrassing moment to share...until now. Last Sunday we were at the Grover's for Owen's birthday party. The party was in their backyard where they have a trampoline. We have a tramp so I don't know what possessed me to get on their's but I did. And then I proceed to say "let's see if I can still do a flip." I successfully flipped, I didn't land upright, but I made it all the way around. That was not the embarrassing part. That part came when as a went to do the flip I peed my pants. I guess when I went to flip my stomach muscles contracted so hard that it forced a small amount of pee out of me. And to make it worse since I was flipping it didn't really stay in one place, it ran everywhere. I have to admit I was a little shocked. I have never peed my pants before, at least as an adult. I know I have had 2 children and some people get weak bladders from having children and I guess that's what I'm gonna go ahead and blame this on, but I have never had bladder problems in the past. So I'm grateful that it was only our family and the Grover family that was in the backyard when it happened. It probably would have been that much worse if their whole extended family was still there for the party. Although I don't think that I would have gotten on the tramp in the first place if the whole family was still there. Tina and Lance already know I'm a dork so I don't get too embarrassed if I do stupid things around them. I'm also grateful that my bladder didn't empty completely. At least the pee wasn't visible to everyone. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything to begin with, then they wouldn't have known. I also definitely shouldn't have told Alisha, which is the reason that I'm even posting this in the first place, she said if I didn't post it she would. So there you have it people. I peed my pants. Laugh it up. I don't think I'll be attempting another flip anytime soon. And if I do, I'll make sure I go to the bathroom first.

The Month of April

So yes...I know...it's been almost a month since I have posted anything. The month of April is always my most busy month of the year. And for some reason I always end up adding more stress into my life during this busy month. Last year we decided to buy a house and move, this year I decided to quit my job and look for a new one. So on all my days off lately and even on some of my working days I have spent looking for a new job. I wanted to stay in the dental field, but I also only wanted to stay working part time. So this was kind of a hard task to find an office that was just looking to fill a part time position. I finally found something after over a month of looking. My last day at Heritage was on Monday, April 28th and my first day at my new office was Wednesday, April 30th. So I am now working at Cascade Endodontics. For all of you wondering what endodontics means all it is is a fancy way of saying root canal specialist. I am also back to assisting which I am excited about. So I am 2 days into my new job and so far so good. My new days are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 9-5 ish. So a few more hours than what I was working, but I'm hoping to work hard and help get our debt payed off so that when we decide to have another baby I can stay home without any money worries. NO THIS IS NOT AN ANNOUNCEMENT. There was also a lot of other things that kept me busy. The next few posts will help explain.

The Big Surprise

Mikkele got a huge surprise at school the day of her birthday. Grandma Roberts had told Mikkele that she wasn't going to be able to come into town for her birthday. But little did Mikkele know we were pulling one over on her. She was so surprised. Her class had a field trip scheduled that same day to Discovery Gateway-A children's museum in Salt Lake. So Grandma Roberts was able to drive and help keep track of the crazy 2nd graders. What a brave soul.

The Family Birthday Party

So I convinced Mikkele to pick a restaruant and we would go out to eat for her family party. Less stress for all involved I think. She chose Chuck-A-Rama. So everyone came, we ate, opened presents, and there was very little stress. My kind of party.

Bubba Adam gave Mikkele this is a towel for her Baptism that will be coming up at the end of May. It is embroidered with her name and date she will get baptized.

This is Mikkele finding out that we got her tickets to the Stadium of Fire on July 4th. The one and only Miley Cyrus will be performing. Are we the coolest parents or what???

We also got her a set of scriptures.

Grandma Dorene and Grandpa Glenn got her this Hannah Montana bean bag chair.

She also got a Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus concert cd from the Grover's. I guess Hannah Montana was kind of the present theme for this year. Don't you just love the jaw drop in the pictures. You could say she was a little excited for her presents. Thanks to everyone that came, we had a good time and Mikkele got a lot of fun presents.

The Bathroom

So while Mikkele was in California, I decided to surprise her by painting her bathroom. I wish I would have taken before and after pictures, but I guess poor planning on my part. If you can picture...the old decor was tan on bottom, white on top, with black chair rail and floor boards. Around the top of the bathroom was a rustic wallpaper border with a bear, elk, and pine trees. Not so great for a little 8 year old girl. So I made up my mind and decided to go for it. It took me most of the day to rip the wallpaper border down. Thank goodness that was the only wallpaper in our whole house. I finally got paint on the walls about 5:oopm and was up until about 11:30 or so painting. It's a little hard to tell from the pictures, but the bottom is now all black from the floor boards to the chair rail, and then pink the rest of the way up. Then I took my handy dandy cricut machine and bought some vinyl from Roberts Craft and cut me out some polka dots and did some peel-n-stick. It was so easy and I love that if I get sick of it, I can just peel them off.


So I'm not quite done. I want to put some sort of quote on the wall next to the mirror. So if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I want something girly. Mikkele wants it to say, "It's a girl thing" which is an option, but I just want to do some more thinking before I commit. I bought some black towels and a black rug the other day to go in there as well. So once I get the quote on there I'll take some more finalized pics. I'm pretty proud of myself though. Let's face it...it's like a 3x3 foot bathroom, it's really small, but it's the first thing that we've really done to the house to make it "ours." Also a special thanks to Jeremy with his help watching Granty so I could get this done before Mikkele got home from California. She loved it by the way. :)

The Scrapbook Expo

Twice a year I get the privilege to attend the Scrapbook USA Expo. This is my time to spend the weekend with just the girls and for the most part, NO KIDS. I think this year's spring expo has to be up at the top as far as expo's go thanks in large part to my mom. She decided to purchase VIP tickets for Alisha and me. My friend Tina also did the VIP with us. There were a lot of perks from being a VIP at the expo. We got to sit in the audience for a live taping of Good Things Utah. Ya that's right, we were on tv. We got to an awesome goodie bag filled with $50 worth of scrapbooking supplies. We got to attend a fun make and take class. They provided breakfast, lunch, and snacks. And to top it off we got a 5 minute massage. After a long day of shopping and a little bit of scrapbooking it felt wonderful.
Alisha and I had our names drawn out to be participants in the Boggle competition. As most of you know the Roberts family is very competitive. There was a lot of smack talk, but in the end I didn't disappoint the family. I was the WINNER!!! I won a purse from a vendor there. It was worth $60. I gave the purse to my Aunt Trish to say thanks for letting us stay at her house Friday night. She is an awesome hostess. I would have rather had some scrapbooking stuff, but oh well. I am happy just with the satisfaction that I am the Boggle Champion of the Scrapbook Expo. My friend Michelle played in Musical Chairs. It came down to her and the chick in the brown shirt, but the other chick won. Michelle played hard and had her elbows and booty out, but the chick in the brown shirt wanted it a little more I guess.
Saturday we were just normal people instead of VIP, but we still had a good time. We got some awesome deals, had some good laughs, and even scrapbooked a little bit. A big THANK YOU to my mom! She watched my kids so I could go to the expo. Thanks mom I love you!!! You're the best. Now we just have the countdown to the next expo which is September 19-20. The only problem that I foresee is that Jeremy and my 10th year anniversary is September 18th. I guess I need to start the planning now.

Happy Birthday to Me

So another year has come and gone and I am another year older. 29 isn't so bad so far. Overall my birthday went ok. Thanks to those who sent a card, brought over cookies, presents, flowers, decorated the front of my house so everyone in the neighborhood knew it was my birthday, called, made us dinner, money, blog posts, e-mails, e-cards, etc. At the end of the day I felt very loved. I really have such amazing family and friends. I couldn't ask for better people to be surrounded by. Thanks everyone...I love you.
