"My Brother Grant"

This last week at school, Mikkele was asked to write something about a member of her family and draw a picture of them. Of course she chose Grant. Once again she continues to amaze me with the love that she has for that kid. Last year they had a book that each of them had to fill out why they were lucky. Most of the kids put they were lucky because they had a certain toy, or a pet or something. But Mikkele put that she was lucky that she had her brother Grant. In that picture she drew him in his wheelchair. Since it was a compilation of all the students in the class she didn't get to bring it home. I really wish I had a copy of that one. If you can't really tell what the picture is let me explain. It is Grant laying in his bed. It's a toddler bed so it had rails part of the way down on the sides so he won't fall out. The red and white thing in front is a baseball bean bag that we put in front of the bed so he won't fall off where the rails stop. And if you can't read the writing it says: "My brother Grant has disabilities. He can't do very many things. He is three years old be he still can't walk or crawl. He can say some words but not sentences. It is hard for my parents, but he is a cute brother in the family." By: Mikkele Gallier. I love these kids!!!

The bond between brothers and sisters are so different than those between parents. Grant is SO lucky to have a BIG sister like Mikkele!
